Volkswagen Launches ID. Cross Production with Entry-Level Pricing in Spain

Volkswagen Brand CEO Thomas Schäfer announced in September 2026 that the ID. Cross has entered series production at the Navarra plant in Pamplona, Spain. The vehicle represents a pivotal moment in the company's strategy to deliver electric vehicles at competitive prices, targeting broad consumer segments rather than exclusive luxury categories.

The ID. Cross is offered in three power outputs: 85 kilowatts in the Trend model, 99 kilowatts for Life and Style variants, and 155 kilowatts in the high-performance version. Two battery options are available: a 37-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate pack and a 52-kilowatt-hour nickel-manganese-cobalt pack, delivering a maximum WLTP range of 427 kilometers.

Volkswagen opened orders in July 2026 starting at €36,525 in Germany. However, the entry-level Trend model will become available from mid-October 2026 at €27,995, positioning it within a competitive price bracket against conventional mid-segment vehicles.

The electric SUV features a new 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument display and a 12.9-inch center infotainment screen. A distinctive Retro Display mode transforms dashboards into a throwback aesthetic referencing the original Golf design.

Measuring 4,161 millimeters in length, 1,794 millimeters in width, and 1,588 millimeters in height, the ID. Cross aligns dimensionally with the T-Cross but provides 475 liters of interior storage space. DC fast charging capabilities reach 90 kilowatts for the smaller battery and 105 kilowatts for the larger unit.
